Digital Alchemy Entertainment (DA) is a Vancouver BC based visual effects and animation studio servicing full production and outsourcing work for TV, Film, Gaming, and Commercial Productions worldwide.

Digital Alchemy begins an exciting New Year with a variety of productions airing on television and a number of exciting new projects underway.
In addition to the 3D Animation and Visual Effects services Digital Alchemy offers, we now have a division devoted to 2D Flash Animation. Read below to learn more about our current projects involving CGI Animation, 2D Flash, and amix of the two!

ZiXX Level Three The highly anticipated third season will be premiering on YTV on January 10 @ 8pm. Digital Alchemy provided the gamut of animation services; including series direction and production design. The production was a collaboration with DA’s industry associate Rainmaker Entertainment for Thunderbird Films Inc.

Zigby Zigby is an animated preschool series airing on February 23 @ 11:30am on Treehouse, ABC Australia, France 5, and ZDF. The show has already been generating an enormous buzz amongst the children’s broadcasters and is sure to be a hit.

Projects in the Works

SaskTel TV Spot In collaboration with Cinepost Films, Digital Alchemy has wrapped production on a TV Commercial for Sasktel. The spot is currently receiving television broadcast promoting the Saskatchewan Telephone company. Digital Alchemy is currently gearing up to begin work on the next spot with Cinepost Films.

Thirst Thirst is a feature film produced by Insight Film Studios, one of Canada’s largest film production companies. Digital Alchemy provided visual effects for the feature, which is currently airing on the Super Channel, among many other outlets and venues.

Music Video January 2009, production begins on a 2D animated music video. The video will be created with Flash, Toon Boom, and After Effects.

Visual Effects Digital Alchemy continues to provide CGI creature effects sequences for the LA based horror film 'Skinned Deep'.

CG Animated Preschool Series DA is currently in the production of an innovative new TV pilot which incorporates live-action child actors, with lovable cartoon creatures, in a fantastical world… all created in 3D.

2D Flash Series Recently, Digital Alchemy completed a 2D Flash and CGI hybrid animated series. The characters have a classical look that is combined seamlessly within a dynamic 3D environment.

Research and Development

Digital Alchemy ensures their clients receive the best quality work with the most up to date resources in the industry. This is achieved by DA’s continued efforts in research and development.

VRay in XSI Digital Alchemy has become official Alpha testers for the industries’ leader in photo-real rendering software. XSI combined with VRay will be a winning combination of production friendly workflow and high-end photo-real results. Digital Alchemy is proud to be working with the Chaos Group to help bring this to a reality.

2D in 3D Digital Alchemy has been creating new tools and solutions for bringing 2D Vector based drawings and characters into a 3D environment. This achieves a much more authentic look of traditional 2D than toon shaders, yet still allows the freedom of working in a 3D set. This image is a sample from a show in development using this technique.

Microsoft High Performance Computing In conjunction with the High Performance Computing division at Microsoft Canada, Digital Alchemy is currently providing a proof of concept for the implementation of a Windows based HPC environment solution. The intention of this installation is to provide advanced render farm capabilities.
